PUPILS at a primary school learned about the police during a special workshop.

Police officer Dave Winstanley and Dave Heismway, from Manchester’s prison service, visited Atherton St George’s Primary School to teach pupils how to keep themselves safe, both on the streets and on the internet.

Years five and six teacher Sam Ball said: “They did all sorts of activities throughout the day such as rehearsing how to describe a person to the police and they also met a prison dog.

“It showed them that they don’t have to be afraid of the police – unless they have done something wrong – and they can always approach them to talk to if they feel unsafe.”
