INFLUENTIAL leaders from New Zealand have paid a visit to the borough.

As part of the International Innovation Leadership Exchange which was recently held in Manchester, In Control Partnerships which hosted a personalisation policy topic chose Wigan Council for it’s approach.

Delegates from New Zealand’s Ministries of Social Development, Health and Education spent two days in the borough learning about the council’s strategy before they had an opportunity to see it in action.

Donna Hall, chief executive at Wigan Council, said: “We were delighted to be chosen to host the topic of Personalisation Policy for such a prestigious conference. To be selected is further recognition of the innovative work we’ve undertaken.

“It was wonderful to meet the guests from New Zealand and hear about their experiences.”

The guests visited some of the services supported by the council including Higherfolds Community Centre, Sunshine House Community Hub and Embrace Wigan and Leigh.
