A WIMBLEDON-inspired tennis day, athletics and cheerleading are just some of the activities that Higher Folds pupils have taken part in for National School Sport Week.

Pupils from St Gabriel's Higher Folds Primary School joined thousands of young people from across England and Wales to take part in the celebration of PE and sport.

They tried activities such as netball, swimming, phonics aerobics and Change for Life 10 minute shake ups to try and encourage all pupils to take part in five hours of PE and sport a week.

Head teacher Cathie Williams said: “It has been a challenge the whole school has been involved in. We aimed to make sure all our children took part in 5 hours of physical activity this week and we've had great fun while doing it.”

The week is delivered by the Youth Sport Trust and took place from June 23-27.
