A GREEN army of volunteers have been championed at an annual awards ceremony.
The Greenheart awards saw volunteers from across the borough recognized for their hard work at the event which was compered by Trevor Barton MBE.
Martyn Jones and members of Leigh Ornithological Society were crowned the overall winners for speaking to more than 1,000 children this year about birds and other kinds of wildlife.
Martyn also won the Community Champion Award for LOS’s work with young birders.
Leigh and District Angling Association were also praised for improvement to a number of waters.
