PUPILS at an Atherton school have performed songs, drama pieces and readings based on what they have learnt about the First World War.

Parents were invited along to Atherton Community School’s Commemoration Day to watch as pupils danced, sang war songs and read war poems and letters based on what they has learnt about the Great War.

They learnt about all aspects of the war from how the war started to life in the trenches as part of a project to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.

As well as the performances, the pupils also served up some wartime food and showed of the artwork they have created throughout the project.
