A FAMILY company founded nearly 70 years ago has built its enviable reputation as furniture restorers and retailers through trust and recommendations.

Shaw Street based H.Tebb & Son was founded in 1946 by Hubert Tebb and quickly gained a reputation for providing a high quality service in French polishing and upholstery.

John Tebb joined his father after leaving school to specialise in polishing, and satisfied clients included Lady Pilkington and Lord Derby.

In 1986 John’s son Richard joined the firm and specialised in upholstery.

Today John and Richard work alongside business partner and cabinet maker Bryan Heyes, with the trio combining their skills and craftsmanship to cater for all aspects of furniture restoration.

“From complete reupholstering of sofas to traditional deep buttoning, French polishing dining furniture, staircases and bespoke manufacture of items, most requests can be undertaken,” said Richard.

Tebb’s has a showroom stocked with quality and unusual furniture at very reasonable prices.

In spite of tough trading times, the company remains in a strong position and repeat business and referrals are testimony to the firm’s integrity.

Underlining the qualities that have stood the test of time, Richard said: “Attention to detail, looking after clients on a personal basis and making sure the high standards of quality demanded by Hubert all those years ago are maintained are the key to success.”
