A SPORTS club has received a £50,000 grant towards transforming its pitch.
Golborne Sports and Social Club (GSSC) were awarded the money by The Veolia Environmental Trust to turn its pitch into a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).
The community of Golborne and Lowton, Wigan, is one step closer to having a brand-new sports surface thanks to.
The grant was awarded as one of 54 grants totalling over £1.4 million that the trust has given to community and environmental projects across the UK.
Barry Watkinson, chairman of GSSC, said: “The upgrading of the pitch will safeguard its future use by the club’s members and the community and provide a fit-for-purpose facility where people can meet up and enjoy a range of sports.”
