Pupils put their questions to professionals at Hindsford primary

A NURSE, a hairdresser and a dog groomer were among the occupations that gathered at an Atherton school to give the pupils a taste of working life.

Hindsford CE Primary School held its annual careers’ fair which saw each pupil chose which person they would most like to speak to before asking the fireman, the engineer, a train driver, a beautician and a dentist their questions.

The children also asked Leigh MP Andy Burnham and Wigan mayor Clr Phyllis Cullen what it was like to be a politician and mayor.

Matthew Wigman, a pastoral teacher, said: I decided to do it this way as it allowed each of the children to ask their own questions.

“Andy Burnham told the children at the end that they could all be whatever they wanted to be no matter where they came from so that was a very positive way to finish.”
