A FINANCE officer who lost 7st in just 18 months is hoping to inspire other mums by running a half marathon.

When Leigh mum Jenny Taylor, of St Helens Road, saw a picture of herself on a family holiday in 2012 she realised her weight was taking over her life.

The 27-year-old, who has a seven-year-old daughter Kaitlin, weighed 21st 5lb and had lost all her confidence, while climbing stairs made her breathless. She joined Slimming World and after the first few months had lost 3st – despite still being able to eat her favourite roast dinners, curry and full English breakfasts – and also discovered a love of running.

And after completing two 10k races she is now training for the Great North Run in September.

“As my weight reduced my energy levels increased and I enjoyed the feeling and buzz I got after going for a jog, something I never thought I would achieve,” said Jenny.

“I entered myself into a 10k event as a target to work towards and was pleased to finish it on a hot summer’s day in under 75 minutes. A few months later was the Wigan 10k, which I completed in 65 minutes.

“If I hadn’t joined the slimming club goodness knows how heavy I would be now, my weight was already affecting daily life and having a young daughter I wanted to be fit and healthy so I could enjoy my time with her.

“Now I have lost 7st, life has completely changed. I have so much more energy, love clothes shopping and feel more confident as a person.”

Jenny is training to become a Slimming World consultant and will hold her first meeting at Astley Pensioners Centre on Manchester Road, Astley from 9am on Saturday.
