WALKING Day will be the theme of the next dementia film club.

This month’s meeting will be showing footage from past Walking Days – a north west tradition that originated as early as 1834 and sees members from churches hold a parade.

Cadence Café CIC will be holding the film club at Etherstone Day Centre on September 12 from 11am until 2pm.

The fun-packed afternoon seeks to entertain those suffering with dementia and their carers/family members in an attempt to take them back to the good old days of our local town.

Director of Cadence Café Ian Jackson said: “Walking Days have been a tradition for many years.

“As a young boy, I remember being a spectator at the Walking Days and still reminisce about the luxuries the day brought such as grandma’s best roast.

“A lot of those taking part in this will have fond memories of Walking Days which we hope to evoke.”

The dementia film club serves to reignite old memories from the good old days through film and encourages that more people do more for dementia.
