A YOUTH group have been learning about the two World Wars.

Higher Folds Community Centre youth group visited The Imperial War Museum in Manchester to learn what life and conditions were like for communities during the First and Second World War.

They learned about the contributions made to the war efforts by not just the armed forces but woman and children within the communities.

Community engagement officer at the Stirling Close centre John Latham said: "A lot if interest revolved around rationing and the way it affected communities.

"To round off the trip an extra visit was planned to Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry where the youngsters enjoyed the air and space gallery plus fun in the activity centre.

"A big thank you must be given to the councillors for their funding from the Brighter Boroughs fund, the community centre volunteers for their hard work and also the community centre for providing a packed lunch."
