A SCHOOL has won an international award for its work to bring the world into the classroom.
St Catherines Catholic Primary School in Lowton has been awarded The British Council’s International School Award.
The award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas.
St Catherines maintains a very successful partnership with Hitekani Primary School in Soweto, South Africa and staff from both schools have made reciprocal visits and shared their experiences back in both school.
Head teacher Sue Leck said: “Achieving this award demonstrates our commitment to educating our children as global citizens.
“The activities undertaken throughout the year have explored the worlds inter connections and have raised awareness of global issues and have had a positive impact on our children, teachers and the wider community.”
