PUPILS from Lowton St Mary's CE Primary School have marked the change in season with a traditional harvest festival.
Two events were held involving pupils, parents and parishioners, which traditionally marks the gathering of crops for those long winter months ahead.
Key stage two children held a seasonal service at St Mary’s Church while reception and key stage one presented a special assembly to explain more about what the harvest was and why it is still important to the community.
Well-wishers generously gave fresh and tinned food at each celebration and donations have gone to residents and charities such as Atherton and Leigh Food Bank for distribution to those who need it most.
