A FACEBOOK page set up as a place for residents to voice their anger about traffic problems in the area is in need of new administrators.

Enough is Enough. Stop the Traffic Chaos in our area is followed by almost 4,000 people - many of whom are frustrated with the impact work on the guided busway is having on traffic in Leigh, Tyldesley and Astley.

Up until now several members of the public have been acting as administrators for the page but following complaints about some of the posts concerning councillors, they are looking for someone to take over the reins.

A post by the current administrators reads: “We never wanted this. We never wanted anybody to feel threatened or upset.

"Yes, we wanted to put pressure on our councillors and MPs. However, we never intended to cause these people anxiety or distress.

“Well, it appears that with there being so many administrators of the page things may have gotten out of hand.

“With this in mind we are looking for somebody to continue the running of this page with immediate effect.

“We have done our bit and are happy to bow out knowing we have severely dented the people who voted for and support this white elephant.”

Many residents have commented on the post expressing their upset at the administrators' decision.

Lisa Clements wrote “I’m finding all this pretty hard to read, I'm a resident in Astley with children and family in the community and when I first became aware of your page it was truly a voice for us all.

“It has brought a community together, I myself have become heavily involved and spent many hours trying to make a difference.

“I think it is a real shame that things have taken this route.”

Another resident, Angela Andrew thanked the administrators for the page.

She said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to the administrators of this page.

“Since I found it many weeks ago it has been a place to vent anger/concerns/suggestions and it has really brought people together, people that have similar issues on a daily basis.

“If this page hadn't been here for people to 'let off steam' and get information on who to complain to then I think that a lot of people would have felt isolated and it would have created more 'internal' anger which I do believe would have been shown on daily commutes.”
