STUDENTS from four secondary schools have put on a Christmas Showcase.

Street dancers, singers, rap and ballet dancers from year six to 11 came together for the spectacular organised by PC Andy Wright, who runs the Nowt2Do? project from Fred Longworth High School.

The annual event, Formby Hall, Atherton, has been hailed as a great success.

The project is funded by Greater Manchester Police from the Proceeds of Crime Act in order to keep children off the streets by providing a wide range of activities, free of charge, for hundreds of young people.

PC Wright, the school based police officer for Fred Longworth and Leigh East Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The Nowt2Do? project is all about prevention, early intervention and reducing anti-social behaviour by some young people,” said PC Wright.

“It's wonderful to see so many young people enjoying themselves and putting on an amazing performance.

“Let’s get young people engaged in safe, meaningful activities at an early age. Let's also demonstrate that the majority of our young people are not causing problems in the community.”
