A SCHOOL is providing free meals to its pupils thanks to a national charity.

Newton Westpark Primary School, on Tennyson Avenue in Leigh, have formed a link with charity Magic Breakfast and can now offer a free breakfast to every child in school for the next 12 months.

Children have a choice of healthy cereals, bagels, fruit and fruit juice to enjoy at the breakfast club.

Head teacher Vivien Birchall said: ‘‘The initial response to Magic Breakfast is very promising with children and staff enjoying the great food on offer.’’

Parents and pupils were given the chance to sample the bagels at a tasting session on the playground before registration.

Sue Griggs from the charity said: ‘'Magic Breakfast are delighted to be supporting Newton Westpark Primary School and are happy to see so many children enjoying a healthy start to the day.”
