A YOUNGSTER who was terrified of hairdressers has had her hair cut off — for charity.

Ellyse Uddin, aged 10, from Atherton, joined her twin sister Jayda to have her hair snipped in aid of the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for poorly children.

The ‘pair raised £700 for the charity after having 21 inches cut off between them.

“I used to hide when mum tried to cut my fringe because I didn’t like it,” said Ellyse, aged ten, who had 11-and-a-half inches cut from her hair.

“But because Jayda went first it meant that I could see what it looked like first. Now I don't need to worry about having my hair cut because I know what it looks like.

"We decided to do it because our friend at school had to have this medicine and it made her hair come out. She had to wear wigs so I wanted to donate some hair to make a wig.

"On Sunday I woke up and I thought it was a dream — I touched my hair and I screamed."

The twins’ original target was £150 but they have raised enough money and donated enough hair to make two wigs, with a little help from little brother Ashton Morris who even emptied out his money box to help.

Jayda said: “I like my new haircut a lot. I think I Iike it a bit more than Ellyse.

"Everyone keeps telling us it looks really nice but some of our friends were quite shocked when they saw us."

The Leigh CE Junior pupils had their hair cut at Scissor Sisters in Astley by family friend Emma Hart.

Mum Kellie Bowers, of Hansom Drive, said: "Ellyse looked a bit scared when she was having hers done. Jayda just went really quiet. They're dead proud of themselves that they have done it.

"I love their hair. I was made up. I am so proud of them. I think the fact Ellyse came up with it all by herself."
