MORRIS dancers have received a helping hand to buy a new mini bus.
The Westleigh-based JD Stars Morris Dancers were in desperate need of a new bus and asked several councillors to help.
Councillors Myra Whiteside, Sue Greensmith, Peter Smith, Pam Stewart and Susan Loudon agreed to help with a donation from the Brighter Borough Funds.
Co-founder of the troupe David Simm said: "The grant from Brighter Borough is a fantastic boost to our troupe funds and has made it possible for us to replace our ageing mini bus."
The troupe is based at XII Apostles Club on Westleigh Lane and practice every Wednesday from 6.15pm.
Cllr Whiteside said: “We are always pleased to help local organisations particularly people who volunteer to help our young people achieve.
“We wish good luck to JD Stars and hope to see the mini bus bringing back many more cups, medals, and trophies to Westleigh.”
To join, email jdstars@sky.com or call in to a practice session.
