PEOPLE are being urged to donate their unwanted furniture to a hospice.

Good quality furniture is currently in short supply at the 13 Wigan and Leigh Hospice has across the borough.

Items which can be donated include tables and chairs, bedside tables, drawers, wall units, wardrobes, beds, chairs and suites although these must have a fire retardant label attached.

Retail manager for the hospice, Kate Gaynor, said any donations to the cause would be gratefully appreciated by the hospice.

She said: “Our shops rely completely on the generous donations of local people and this is why we are asking them to please have a look around their homes and garages for any pre-loved furniture.

"Stocks of good quality furniture are running low and we would love to give your unwanted items a new home.

“The proceeds from every donation will help us to continue supporting local people who are living with a life-limiting illness.”

The hospice needs to raise over £7,400 every day from fundraising and donations in order to continue running its services and the shops, which are run entirely by volunteers, make a significant contribution.

Free collections are available for bulky or heavy items. To arrange a collection please call 01942 525566.
