PUPILS from Bedford High School have been finding out about the world of work as part of an Enrichment Day.

The school threw open its hall to employers, colleges, universities, the armed forces and voluntary organisations for a Careers Fair pitched at Year 10 and 11 students.

Representatives from HSBC, Wigan Council, The NHS, The University of Chester, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust and many more set out their stalls to explain to the young people what options are open to them when they leave school.

From how to become a vet through to working in the nuclear industry, there was something for everyone at the fair. The employers also explained to the students what they will need to get the jobs they are looking for.

Student Chloe Greensmith came away smiling from round-after-round of nail-biting interviews.

“It’s really helped to boost my confidence,” she said. “I did feel nervous at first but the more you do, the more comfortable you feel. The advice I have been given on how to sell myself more has been really good. I feel more prepared for real job interviews now.”
