A MAN has been found dead after a house fire.
Emergency services found the man's body after being called to a house fire in Carr Common Road, Hindley Green, just before noon today.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, say police.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Firefighters discovered that there had been a fire in the kitchen — with thick black smoke still inside the terraced house.
"The fire was out when crew arrived and they isolated the gas and electricity to make sure the property was safe.
"The incident was left with the police to carry out an investigation."
He added that firefighters will return to the area on Tuesday to carry out a safety campaign.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 11.50am by the ambulance service after the body of a man in his 80s was found.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and file prepared for the coroner."
The cause of his death is not yet known.
