BEREAVED children will continue to receive specialist support in the North West thanks to a Leigh supermarkets generous donation.

Charity Winston's Wish is a child bereavement support service which supports more than 30,000 bereaved children — the first service of its kind in the UK

Sainsbury's in Parsonage Retail Park partnered with the charity last year and have raised more than £4,000 in donations.

Clare Richards, Community Fundraiser for Winston’s Wish in the North West, said:“Winston's Wish had been running services in Wigan and Leigh for two months when Sainsbury’s chose to support these services.

"It has made such a massive difference to have a local company supporting a new service which relied on help from the community.

"The money raised will go toward supporting more local children and their families”.

Julia Blackett, Store Manager at Leigh Sainsbury’s, added: “It was a privilege to work in partnership with a charity that was new to the area and had something special to offer the local community.

Winston’s Wish touched the hearts of colleagues in store and give our community accessible bereavement support for local children.

"It was as much about information as about fundraising”.

The Winston’s Wish Drop-ins for the North West region run weekly in Wigan and Leigh.

Tuesday Drop-in sessions are held from 11am until1pm at Compassion in Action, Patrick House, in Leigh Rd.

Wednesday Drop-in sessions are held from 3.30pm until 5.30pm at Sunshine House, in Wellington Street, Wigan.
