A BRIDEGROOM dressed as Frank Spencer, a priest dressed as George Michael and a cruise liner wedding venue in Rome was what a Tyldesley bride faced for TV show Don't Tell the Bride.

Mark Kelly and his bride Kelly Roughley appeared on last night's episode of the hit BBC1 show.

The couple, who have been together for ten years, have two daughters Leah and Beth and run their own entertainments company.

The show followed Mr Kelly, who chose an 80's themed wedding, struggle to plan his nuptials in three weeks.

Meanwhile Kelly planned what she would do with the £14,000 budget and chose her dream wedding including her dream dress which she found at Brides of Leigh.

But Mark had no idea what his bride-to-be wanted.

Mr Kelly said: "When we first got told we had been accepted on the show I started to reminisce about me and Kelly and how we started in show business at an early age. I wanted it a sort of past and present theme as to how we met so I affiliated it with the 80’s .

"The reasoning behind dressing as Frank Spencer was that I won a talent contest when I was 12 so the organisers suggested I dressed as him.

"They wanted me to zip line on to the stage at one point and to sing together at the ceremony but that was not going to happen."

On the show Mr Kelly books a Rome cruise for his wedding venue however his video link wedding invitation is only sent out to family and friends the day before the ceremony meaning out of a 500 guest venue only12 guests turned up.

The hen do does not go to plan either after Mrs Kelly-to-be ends up watching 'One Man and his Dog' at home with friends and family.

Mr Kelly said: "I expected a challenge but I don't think I was prepared for the amount of challenges. I was so scared to pick the wedding dress, it's the worst thing a man can do to choose the wedding dress but I went with what I thought she would look amazing in and fortunately eight months on I am still pleased to say I got it absolutely right.

"I think I got the important things right and got the brownie points but I definitely enjoyed it more than she did.

Mrs Kelly said: "The venue in hindsight was gorgeous. The whole day stunned me. My horse drawn carriage dream turned into a Italian mini bus to a cruise ship but it was beautiful."
