A GROUP of friends have 'wheeled in' more than £3,000 for charity after completing a 1,000-mile bike ride.
Michael Southern, Adrian Stoneley and David Rogers took on the challenge from Lands End to John O'Groats for Wigan and Leigh Hospice, Joining Jack and The Christie.
The trio, who were accompanied by friend Keith Morris - who followed in a car to provide much needed supplies, set off on the two-week feat on June 24.
Father-of-four Michael Southern, of Butts Bridge in Leigh said: "It was tough in places and we had some terrible rain to get through, which meant that a couple of days we were having to get changed two three times a day because we were soaked through, but then we also had the few really hot days, which was equally as hard.
"I think it was the routine that was the hardest part - getting up every morning and getting out on time to make sure we made the miles up and then we would only be finishing about 7pm at night and by the time you had had some tea you were exhausted and just wanted to go to bed.
"But it was all part of the experience and we were seeing different things everyday and the landscapes, which was wonderful."
