GOLBORNE High School has improved GCSE results on last year.

Across the school, 60% of pupils attained maths and English at C or above with 57% achieving 5 A* to C including English and maths.

The numbers achieving 5 A*to C improved on last year at 69%.

Headteacher David Lythgoe said: "I am delighted with these results and the progress the school continues to make.

"We have always focused on quality of teaching and a positive attitude to learning.

"This, combined with the dedication and commitment of the staff, has again paid dividends.

"Staff this year have been in school over holidays and spent many hours after school providing extra tuition and support.

"The students have worked exceptionally hard and it is pleasing that they have been rewarded in this way.

"Team work is very important and I would like to thank our very supportive parents who engage and work with the school in everything we do.’

"The governors were delighted with the ongoing success and are very optimistic about the future for the school.

"They fully intend to build on this year’s outstanding performance."
