A TEAM scaled the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales to raise money for a children's disability charity.

Charity champions Carl Price, Alex White and Catherine Tye raised £2,500 for the Seashell Trust and Children’s Hospice Derian House.

The Seashell Trust is a charity which runs a special school and college for children and young people with profound disabilities.

All of the students have communication disorders as well as other physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

Mr Price, finance controller at the import and distribution firm Laltex, based in Leigh, said: “I turned 40 earlier this year and wanted to mark the year with something, so decided upon this challenge and to raise some money along the way.

“We were so lucky with the weather especially up in Scotland where the forecast was heavy rain and strong winds. It wasn’t until we got up to the cloud line two and a half hours up Ben Nevis that we saw some rain, and even then it was only a 10-minute shower.

“At the top of each peak it was very cloudy so visibility was only a few feet, but when coming down and out of the clouds the scenery was fantastic. The weather in Snowdonia was fantastic – bright and sunny.”

The team spent just under 14 hours walking up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Laltex for taking on this incredible challenge for us.

“Congratulations to all three of them and heartfelt thanks from all the families here that will benefit.”
