LEIGH Amateur Boxing Club had four boxers in action over the past week.

First into action being 18 year old light heavyweight Robert Bordon.

Selected in the North West Counties Squad which traveled to Guernsey to take on a Channel Islands Squad, Bordon won all three rounds against 23 year old Wayne Calladine. Appearing on the excellent Paramount ABC show at Stockport County FC were Jonathan Brown, Jordan Alexander and Ashley Peyton.

First up was 13 year old lightweight Jordan Alexander opposite Stockport's Steven Johnson. In a blistering display Jordan completely overwhelmed his outgunned but brave opponent, the bout being stopped by the referee in 1 minute 10 seconds of the first round.

Next was featherweight Jonathan Brown of Lowton High School who notched another win when his opponent, Garrick Robb of Whitehaven, retired in the corner.

Reigning East Lancs Junior ABA Champion, 18 year old Ashley Peyton was the final Leigh boxer on the bill.

Matched with the experienced 21 year old Mark Kellet of Preston ABC, Ashley was quick into the action forcing Kellet back with shots to body and head. Kellet to his credit though replied with heavy combinations and leveled up the first round scores. The fired up Peyton though jumped straight back into action and his faster combinations continually scored to take a second round lead. In an all action third, Kellet once again stormed forward , but was comprehensivly outboxed by the classy technical boxing of Ashley.
