PET owners will attend a meeting to discuss concerns raised about Leigh Cats and Dogs Home.
The meeting, which will be held on November 22 in Leigh Labour Club, comes after residents shared concerns about the home on a Facebook page.
Some customers claim they have bought animals which have later become unwell.
Atherton Resident Sherlaee Webb bought a 10-week-old Bichon Frise puppy for £395 on October 22.
However, less than 24 hours later Oscar became ill and was admitted to Pet Medics in Worsley.
The single mother-of-three has spent more than £1,500 on veterinary bills and has requested Leigh Cats and Dogs Home refund costs not covered by her insurance.
Miss Webb, who works as a nurse, said: "It’s been very upsetting for me and the kids. After putting a post on Facebook about him, I have had so many people saying they have had similar incidents.”
Another customer, aged 45, who did not wish to be named, bought a 12-week-old West Highland Terrier from Leigh Cats and Dogs Home on October 24. In a similar turn of events the puppy fell ill two days later and was admitted to Pet Medics in Worsley.
The meeting starts at 7pm and residents are invited to raise other concerns.
In response to a letter of complaint to Leigh Cats and Dogs Home – sent by Miss Webb – the charity said they would "not knowingly re-home any animal that was unwell in any respect".
Donna Hall, chief executive of Wigan Council, said: “We are working proactively with the RSPCA, Leigh Cats and Dogs Home and council enforcement teams to find a solution to the issues that have been raised. The welfare of animals is a top priority for us all.”
The Leigh Journal contacted the Leigh Cats and Dogs Home for a comment.
