POLICE are investigating after a pensioner is believed to have lost his wallet while he was in an Aldi store in Leigh.

The incident occurred on November 13 at around noon.

Shopper, Thomas Gordon, aged 80, of Shrewsbury Close in Hindley, is believed to have paid for his shopping and left his wallet on the till.

He realised he had lost the wallet when he came to get on a bus to go home and didn’t have his bus pass.

His daughter Krystle Gordon-Culshaw said her dad returned to the store, where staff checked the store and bins, but were unable to find the wallet.

Ms Gordon-Culshaw added: “He went to pay at the till, packed his bags and left his wallet with as he recalls £35 inside which was the rest of his pension.

“This is his normal routine and it's not the first time he's not picked up his wallet in a shop and every other time it has been handed back to him by a till assistant or a customer behind him.

“I had to lend him £10 to get back home, he knocked on my door in a bit of a state.”

Police said CCTV was checked after the incident and the police are working with the store to resolve the incident.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “A member of staff has been suspended while this matter is investigated.”

No arrests have currently been made.
