HEALTHCARE professionals from across the UK came to Leigh for a special conference regarding mental health in palliative care.
The conference, which was organised by Wigan and Leigh Hospice, took place at Leigh Sports Village stadium on February 3 and also covered presentations on homelessness, end of life care, dementia, depression and caring for patients with schizophrenia at the end of life.
Renowned experts in palliative care were at the event, which was chaired by Tony Bonser, trustee of the National Council for Palliative Care and St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston.
Jo Carby, clinical director at Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: “The conference attracted healthcare professionals from across the UK. We were delighted with the event and how many people attended, so we will certainly consider running another conference next year.”
