TYLDESLEY came away from this heavy defeat with heads held high, knowing that given their current difficulties, they gave it their all.

With five games remaining, Bongs aren’t safe yet and are just 14 points from relegation but still have to play three of the five teams below them, who all have games in hand. But it’s hoped the spirit show in this game, will see them through.

One of three promotion favourites, Aspatria, just had far too much in every department, whose size, pace as well as being well drilled was evident for all to see, but they had to work hard for the vast majority of their points.

Once again young Conner Edge didn’t seem fazed has he battled hard for the full eighty, showing a maturity beyond his years.

Other good performances from Mike Thornley, Liam Varley and old boy Eddie Wallbank, was pleasing to see.

Tyldesley had a few good moments which had them protect the ball well, but they just couldn’t get close enough to threaten.

With all knowing the outcome of this contest, and the hosts recording a try within minutes of the restart, Bongs heads never dropped, who finally recorded a well worked try, which was no more than they deserved.

Hard yards from Lee West, Craig Pulman, Edge, Damien and Travis Twizell had Bongs move to within strike range. A clever kick through from Martin Wallbank had the alert Zack Sargent, run through before touching down, M Wallbank converted.

Aspatria, recorded a further four tries before the sixtieth minute, which would of seen a much bigger deficit, by the end, had it not been for Tyldesley’s refusal to roll over.

To their credit, Bongs had some good spells during the last quarter of the game that saw Lee Davies, Rob Cox and Jamie Aldred go close. Aspatria recorded a sixth second half try, with the final play.
