A SCHOOL reunion went ahead at The Rose Centre in Lowton despite the recent £2,500 damage done to the site by visiting travellers.
The Leigh Girls’ Grammar School Annual Reunion Dinner took place on April 15 after clean up teams did extensive work to ensure that the former Lowton Civic Hall site was in a fit state to hold such an event.
Avis Freeman, who attended the reunion, said: “Although the room was cold due to heating problems, the 125 ladies who turned up from across the country had a great time.”
The annual event usually takes place at Atherton’s Formby Hall. It was moved to The Rose Centre due to the building’s uncertain future.
