A LEIGH author’s new book which answers some of the world’s most important questions is now on sale.

Former truck driver George Bentley, 69, of Kingsley Street, has travelled the world looking for the truths in myths and legends and answers to questions like what is inspiration and who invented the alphabet?

George says that The Forbidden Knowledge: A lesson in creative writing, which is the second book he has had published, focuses on the history of knowledge and reveals many interesting facts and theories, including that women used to rule the world in the Stone Age.

“I’ve travelled the world looking for answers so I thought I should share them,” he said.

“I had another book called A Very Important Dinner, which was a way for me to write ideas and findings of mine but in a story format.

“This time it’s the facts. I read history back through the ages, looking into the truths and myths in religion and how words came to mean what they do now.”

The inspiration behind the book, which also gives an insight into terrorist mentality looking back through history, came from George’s frustration at not being able to find answers to important questions when he was growing up.

He said: “I couldn’t find answers to various questions – like who invented the alphabet and what is inspiration? – while as a Catholic schoolboy the answer to many questions was ‘it came from God’.

“This wasn’t an answer for me, so I went looking for the answers and I found some.

“There are historians who have rejected my ideas but at the very least my ideas are something to think about.

“The book is a good read.”
