MORE than 1,000 residents turned up for what has been hailed ‘the biggest and best’ Atherton Carnival in the town’s history.
The fun-filled seventh annual event on Sunday had something for everyone to enjoy, from a giant funfair to a vintage car show and Elvis impersonators.
The carnival started with a trademark colourful parade through the streets of Atherton.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Tyldesley Brass Band, Anvil Street Drummers and Bolton Caledonia Pipe Band.
Revellers also got the chance to enjoy a carousel, zorb balls, a climbing wall, a bouncy assault course, around 35 stalls and various activities involving most of the schools in the area, as well as dance, volunteer and community groups.
Event organiser Brian Seddon said: “This year was the biggest and best carnival we have had.
“It was a real community day. We are so happy with how it turned out.”
