A THIRTY-year-old man from Leigh has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a crash in Warrington.

The fatal collision involving a white Ford Focus and a green Kawasaki motorcycle occurred on Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood, at around 5.40pm yesterday, Thursday, The 31-year-old motorcycle rider from Warrington was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man from Leigh is currently helping police with their enquiries.

Investigating officer Neil Farnworth, of the Cheshire Roads Policing Team, said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of our investigation we are keen to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen this collision.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen either of the vehicles travelling in the area prior to the collision taking place.”

Police say that both vehicles were travelling northbound at the time of the collision.

The motorcycle rider's next of kin have been notified, although formal identification has yet to take place.

Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 697 of July 14.
