A TEENAGER is 'mortified' after getting the name of her favourite takeaway tattooed onto her hip in a drunken dare and becoming an internet sensation.

Leah Price's large unwanted keepsake from her holiday in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, has had social media users all over the world in hysterics.

The 19-year-old, of Severn Street, Leigh, admits that she would never have got the odd tattoo had she not drunk a copious amount of alcohol and been dared to do it by her boyfriend James Tomlinson, 26.

But she is hoping that her drunken mistake will lead to a discount meal the next time she visits Leigh Tandoori on Twist Lane.

Leah said: "It is my favourite takeaway place. My boyfriend James and I eat there around three to four times a week and it has become a running joke to everyone who knows us.

"He dared me to get a Leigh Tandoori tattoo over the phone when I was on holiday with my friend in Ayia Napa last week.

“I had drunk too much and I took the dare seriously, especially after walking past a tattoo parlour.

“I was so drunk that I had to ask someone how to spell tandoori, so it could have been even worse. At least the name of the takeaway is spelt correctly.

"When I woke up the next day my phone was going crazy with all the comments on the picture of the tattoo I had posted on Facebook.

“I am mortified but at the time I was thinking 'a dare is a dare'."

Her boyfriend does not see it that way, having backed out of his counter dare to get a tattoo of his favourite meal at the takeaway, a chicken tikka vindaloo.

Leah said: “The dare was that if I got my tattoo James would get a tattoo of his favourite chicken tikka vindaloo dish, but he has backed out of it.

"I am hoping that when James reads this he will change his mind and get the tattoo done. I held up my part of the dare, it is only fair that he holds up his.

"James thinks my tattoo is hilarious.

"My family did not know what to say to me at first but they know what I am like and they think it is funny now."

Leah is a regular customer at Apollo Tattoo Arts on Twist Lane and has several other tattoos.
