TIME is running out to nominate your community sporting heroes.

The 2016 Believe Sports Awards, organised on behalf of Wigan Council, rewards and recognises the work of coaches, clubs, athletes and volunteers in the borough at a prestigious ceremony.

Nominations can be made in the following categories:

•Coach of the Year

•Club of the Year

•Sports Achiever of the Year

•Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year

•Volunteer of the Year

•The Wilf Brogan Unsung Hero Award

•Changing Lifestyle Recognition Award

•Team of the Year

•The Martin Lynn Special Contribution to School Sport Award

•Sports Apprentice of the Year

Nominations must reflect achievements between September and the closing date of Friday August 12 Cllr Paul Kenny, cabinet member for leisure at Wigan Council, said: “It is really important that we support this fantastic event, celebrating home-grown sporting talent and the ambassadors at grassroots level who encourage more people to get active.

“Do not miss the opportunity to tell us about those unsung heroes who deserve to be recognised and applauded for their efforts in championing sport.”

Category winners will go forward to represent Wigan Borough at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards on November 4 at The Point in Emirates Old Trafford.
