A GIRL’S guide leader is ‘over the moon’ after receiving a funding boost from Leigh Rotary Club.

Jayne Jones, of Bride Oake Street Leigh and who is also leader of the 12th Leigh St Joseph’s Girl Guides, managed to secure the £500 funding to help with transport costs and camping gear needed for the group who nearly had to cancel their upcoming camping trip.

Mum-of-two Jayne, 44 said: “It just means so much to get this funding to actually have the new tents and gear that we need, we are over the moon.

“I am glad that the girls can now look forward to their trip, it was absolutely brilliant of the Rotary club to do this.

“We are all extremely grateful and have already got new tents which the girls are looking forward to using for all of their future adventures.

“They will be with us for years to come.”

David Jones, president of Leigh Rotary Club added: “The Rotary Club of Leigh are always trying to help youth organisations in the area and in this case, they were in danger of having to cancel their planned camp, so we were delighted that we could come to the rescue.

“When the guides contacted us to say they had arranged transport costs and camping fees for their guide troop, but couldn't find anyone to help with the purchase of tents, we were pleased to be able to step in with the full funding.”
