THE LEIGH branch of the Royal Air Forces Association is looking for volunteers to join their ranks The group currently has around 200 members who provide a support network to tackle issues ranging from financial hardship to loneliness and social isolation within the community.
In 2015 alone, the Leigh Branch raised more than £2,000 in support of ex RAF personnel and their families in the area.
To provide this one-to-one support, the branch is involved in a number of activities, including vital fundraising.
The Leigh Branch is currently looking for volunteers to join the team as a fundraising organiser for their national Wings Appeal, a newsletter editor, a PR volunteer, a standard bearer and befriender.
Katharine Montgomery, volunteer manager at the Royal Air Forces Association, said: “As we receive no government funding, our volunteers are incredibly important to us.
“We are looking for a number of dedicated helpers to join us and who will have the full support of the Association’s professional team.
“Volunteering for the Association not only benefits us as a charity, but the volunteers get so much from it too, from the tangible experience for CVs to the great sense of pride and achievement to be found in helping others.
“No management experience is necessary, as full training will be given for each position, therefore presenting the ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills, at any stage of their career.”
