GOLBORNE High School students had a lot to celebrate today following an ‘excellent’ set of GCSE results.

Pupils at the Lowton Road school achieved a 10 per cent increase on last year's English results, with 64 per cent of students earning a C or above in maths and English and 83 per cent picking up an A* to C grade.

Among those celebrating success was head boy Andrew Gaskell, who secured A*s in all 10 of his subjects.

Jasmine Hewitt achieved 11 A* and A grades and Joshua Ball, Sally Sweeney and Lana Robinson all got 10 A*s and As.

Head teacher Alison Gormally said: “I am incredibly proud to be head teacher of a school which has achieved so much success for its students.

“I am delighted with these results and the excellent progress that our students have made.

“These results are a consequence of the successful partnership between staff, students and parents.

“Our staff have continued to deliver inspirational and challenging lessons which have motivated our year 11 pupils to succeed, and their dedication to secure the maximum progress for every student, combined with the unwavering support of parents, has led to our year 11 pupils realising and exceeding their individual potential.

“Together we have succeeded in ensuring that our students can continue their journey along a pathway to success which we allow them to realise their dreams.”
