A WOMAN was left ‘fearing for her life’ after being kidnapped, assaulted and robbed by three men.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the ‘terrifying incident’ which saw the men grab the victim as she was walking along Peel Lane in Astley before 12.30am on Monday, September 19, and force her into the back of a white transit van.

They punched her in the face and covered it with a cloth to stifle her screams.

The van was driven to the Old Boat House pub on Higher Green Lane and two of the men ordered the woman to hand over a large amount of cash.

The men then drove off in an unknown direction, leaving the terrified woman behind, and the van was later found burnt out in Tyldesley.

Detective constable Stuart Woodhead, from Greater Manchester Police’s Wigan Borough division, said: “This was a terrifying incident that left this poor woman fearing for her life.

“We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or know who these men were, to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 7225 or 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
