A MISS Saigon star is inviting residents to join him at Cineworld Leigh on Sunday to watch a screening of the musical's 25th anniversary performance.

Keith Burns, who is originally from Lowton and is currently living in Leigh, is a member of the original cast of the 1989 production, playing the role of Thuy.

Recorded in front of a live audience and starring former James Bond villain Jonathan Pryce, the show at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End included a special gala performance at the end by the musical.

Keith, 53, who was also part of the original cast of Les Miserables, said: “It has been an amazing experience to be part of two fantastic shows that are still close to people’s hearts.

“I am going to the premiere of the Miss Saigon cinema screening in London on Saturday but I just had to come back to my roots to watch it here with family and friends as well.

“I urge everyone to come to Leigh on Sunday to watch the special one night only performance.

Miss Saigon tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving a Vietnamese woman abandoned by her American lover.

Tickets are £18.80 for adults and £16.30 or pensioners and students.

The screening will start at 6.30pm.
