RESIDENTS are invited to honour servicemen and women who gave their lives for their country at a number of parades, services and wreath-laying ceremonies across the borough.

Remembrance Sunday on November 13 will see dignitaries and councillors join residents to honour the sacrifices made by fallen heroes in the two World Wars and more recent conflicts.

Lord Peter Smith, leader of Wigan Council, said: “Remembrance Sunday is always very well attended throughout the borough and I am sure this year will be no different.

“The ceremonies are becoming especially poignant each year as fewer of those who served in the Second World War remain with us.

“Our support for Remembrance Sunday is a key part of that.”
