A MUM-of-three with terminal cancer says she is crying 'tears of joy' as communities rally to help raise the £100,000 she needs for potentially life-saving treatment abroad.

Polly Haydock, of Gadbury Fold, Atherton, was diagnosed with bowel cancer more than a year ago and received the devastating news in July that her stage four cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, liver and lungs.

The 37-year-old has set up a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise the money she needs to receive immunotherapy treatment in Germany.

Not available on the NHS, immunotherapy is designed to boost the body's natural defences to fight off diseases like cancer.

The latest fundraising event for Polly will be held at The White Horse Tavern, on Bolton Road, Westhoughton, next Saturday, November 12.

Polly said: “I feel completely amazed and overwhelmed that the whole community of Westhoughton and Atherton have pulled together to help my little family.

“I am crying lots of tears, but instead of the tears being about leaving my children they are tears of joy – joy from knowing I could have a chance to live, and it is all down to the kindness and generosity of people I do not even know.

“It means the world to me. My faith in humanity has been far surpassed and I am humbled by the amount of support we are receiving.”

The fundraising event will boast children’s rides, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, football activities and a raffle, with many prizes up for grabs.
