A FUNDRAISING evening held in Leigh amassed more than £2,500 to help fund potentially life-saving treatment abroad for an Atherton mum with terminal cancer.

Polly Haydock, of Gadbury Fold, was initially diagnosed with bowel cancer, which has since spread into her lymph nodes, liver and lungs.

The 37-year-old and her family, including her three children, have been raising money for immunotherapy treatment in Germany via a GoFundMe donation page.

With a £100,000 target, almost £31,000 has now been raised following the event on Saturday, November 12.

Held at the Legends Bar on Swan Lane, Hindley, it included a number of fun activities, including karaoke and face painting, while Scott Frith, who went to school with Polly's husband Dan, had his head shaved to raise funds.

Sharon Carroll, who helped to organise the event, said: "The charity night was a great success. We raised £2,532 on the night and are still awaiting sponsors.

"We are so grateful to the many local businesses who donated services and raffle prizes to raise money for the appeal."

Comedy star Peter Kay is holding a question and answer event at Blackpool Opera House tomorrow, Friday, to raise money for Polly.
