POLICE are urging people who witnessed a fatal collision to come forward.

A 59-year-old man died after being struck by a blue Peugeot 307 at the junction with Kirkhall Lane on Atherleigh Road, Leigh.

He was crossing Atherleigh Way near to B&Q when the collision occurred at around 6.10pm on Thursday, November 3.

All parties stopped at the scene and the man was taken to hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

He died 11 days later.

Greater Manchester Police say that a group of pedestrians who they believe witnessed the incident could hold 'vital information'.

PC Suzanne Keenan, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We are continuing to investigate this collision where a man has later tragically lost his life.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed this collision or may have dashcam footage, or anyone with any information about this incident, to contact police.

“I appreciate that some time has elapsed since the collision, however a group of pedestrians have been identified as being present at the crossing where the collision occurred.

"I am appealing for those persons to come forward as they may hold vital information which could be key to the investigation.”
