A MAN has been given a four-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after admitting knife and drug possession charges.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Robert Haigh, of Cowper Avenue, Atherton, after he failed to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to answer charges of carrying two Stanley knives and a lock knife and possessing a quantity of cannabis in Liscard Street on New Year's Eve.
The 45-year-old was back in court yesterday, Thursday.
He pleaded guilty to the offences and failing to appear in court.
As well as being handed the suspended prison sentence Haigh was ordered to adhere to a curfew order and wear an electronic tag for six weeks.
He also has to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
