A HOSPICE trustee has recently reached 35 years of service at the NHS.

Fiona Taylor joined the health service in 1982 at the age of 17 and recently joined the Advancing Quality Alliance board.

The Tyldesley resident, who is a trustee of St Ann’s Hospice in Little Hulton and the chief officer of two NHS clinical commissioning groups, said: “I can’t believe it has been 35 years.

“It has flown by but I have to say I have enjoyed every minute.

“I honestly love coming to work and regularly tell my colleagues that I enjoy what I do because I am so passionate about working for the NHS.

“It is not always easy and I am the first to say that, but I have loved all the experiences I have had over the years in various roles and I am proud to say I have been with the NHS for 35 years.”

The 52-year-old started her career in Salford as a registered general nurse before going on to become a midwife and health visitor.

In 1999 she left Salford to become deputy director of nursing and then acting director of nursing at the Mancunian Community Health NHS Trust.

She later joined the Bradford City Teaching Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Since then she has worked at director level and held a variety of roles, including acting chief executive of the Bradford trust.

In 2012 Fiona was appointed chief officer of the NHS South Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group and the NHS Southport and Formby Clinical Commissioning Group.
