PUPILS met former Blue Peter star Katie Hill as they received training to help their high school become a bully-free zone.
St Mary’s Catholic High School in Astley has embraced a new #bTRU2u anti-bullying initiative launched by schoolwear manufacturer Trutex alongside The Diana Award.
It encourages children to become anti-bullying ambassadors for their school and trains them on the best ways to tackle bullying.
A team of pupils from a range of years attended an event with TV presenter Katie as the Manchester Road school’s anti-bullying ambassadors.
Held at a school in Rochdale earlier this month, the event saw pupils discuss bullying and receive training from The Diana Award team.
A spokesman for St Mary’s said: “The day was enjoyed by all who attended.”
The St Mary’s anti bullying ambassadors are committed to offering peer support to all pupils at the school.
With a moto of ‘be a buddy not a bully’, they have made a pledge to stand together as one, treat others the way they would like to be treated, overcome their differences, whatever they may be and provide support and friendship to each other.
