A quality second half performance had Tyldesley, deservedly, progress to the Lancashire plate final, where they will meet Burnley at Leigh rufc on May 7. This win also sees Bongs, finish their current home season, unbeaten.

Before a ball was kick, Bongs where probably the underdogs, against a Littleborough side, that apply their trade in a higher league, but in truth, Borough, struggled to contain Tyldesley, for long spells, especially up front.

The game didn’t start well for the hosts. Littleborough kick off, but poor ball control gifted Borough possession within Bongs 22, who finally settled for 3 pts, on 6 minutes, from a penalty awarded, after Tyldesley brilliantly defended their line.

With the game approaching the first quarter, Tyldesley had started to play some good stuff, which resulted in pushover try, from a scrum, for Zack Sargent.

Littleborough hit back straightaway, with a seven pointer, which restored their lead, within seconds.

Paul Martin added one of two penalties, awarded, during the last fifteen, which had the hosts, pull back to within two points. In what was a pretty even first half? Half time 8-10.

It took just three minutes for another superb scrum, too gain reward, has Sargent touched down for his and Bongs second, at the back of another dominant drive.

Bongs applied pressure, forcing Borough too spill the ball. Luke Dufeu kicked on, before gathering, just short of the line, but then popped a neat ball to Mark Dickinson who touched down, Martin converted.

A good line-out had Matt Crampton secure the ball, before the pack set off again, on another superb drive, allowing Adam Fetherston, too ground the ball, over the white wash.

Martin added his second penalty, stretching the lead to 18, minutes before Dickinson returned the favour, after drawing the cover he then passed to Dufeu, who cut inside and stepped the last defenders, for a good individual try, which secured the game with ten remaining. Borough recorded their second try in the dying seconds.
